MOTD: Grateful Dead Live at Boston Music Hall on 12-1-1971

Happy December and today we bring you the Grateful Dead Live at Boston Music Hall on 12-1-1971. East Coast shows from Boston always have their own  “feel”, like just like shows from Philly and MSG, and maybe it starts with this one. This recording is short, only a portion of Set II, however, it is jaw-dropping. This is a Matrix recording and it puts you right in the audience without that “annoying guy” screaming and clapping through the best quiet parts of the jams. This is the stuff that made us follow the Band and why we still go see shows – for the love of live music.

The Music

Set II

Cryptical Envelopment >Drums >The Other One >Me and My Uncle >The Other One, Not Fade Away >Going Down the Road Feeling Bad >Not Fade Away

Tasting Notes

Find a time today where you have 45 minutes, put on headphones and just listen.  From the opening bass notes of The Other One coming out of Drums to the final notes of NFA – you are transported. We have frenzied peaks, cowboys tunes and at the end, the boys leave us asking “what just happened”. Prepare to have your face melted (~_~).
