MOTD: Grateful Dead Live at Curtis Hixon Convention Hall on 12-19-1973

Today on MOTD we’re selecting the second night of The Grateful Dead Live at Curtis Dixon Convention Hall from 12-19-1973.  They say a dollar ain’t worth what it used to be – check out what $6.50 at the door ($5.50 in advance) used to get! A great run of ’73 shows and this one we think is better than yesterday’s selection. So good in fact that Dick (he of Dick’s Picks) chose this to be the first release in the Dick’s Picks series.  Give this show a good listen especially from He’s Gone through the Casey Jones encore and let us know what you think in the comments below!

Set 2

Tasting Notes

Set I provides us some fantastic moments – we loved the Here Comes Sunshine! Set II is where the sun breaks out and we see the light. Keith’s playing is such a sweet accompaniment to Jerry’s guitar on He’s Gone it’s no wonder Dick selected this as his first release. The Band is in full on listen-to-each-other mode, with all the pieces clicking together to complete the puzzle.
