Today in Grateful Dead History we bring you an excellent (really – it is fantastic) quality soundboard from 1971 – Live at Auditorium Theatre on 1971-10-22. Sure we can talk about how this show brings us one of the first performances of Keith recorded with the Band, or the fact that it’s such a good quality re-master (thank you Charlie) but let’s get down to it
Check out The Other One (it’s really Cryptical->The Other One->Cryptical) and how they take it right into Deal. For you musician folks they hang on that A to get from one place to the other one (get it).
The songs are all fresh in 1971, with Keith playing his arpeggios and chord work around Jerry – almost like a game of ring around the rosie – and Jerry is setting his rules of the game! Hard pressed to find a snoozer and even Dave had to release this one as his Pick. As always we dance to Phil and Bobby gives us a howl.
This is the music that legends are made from and why we followed The Grateful Dead around the USA for 169 shows and wish we could have gone to more!
