Our Tasting Notes
This show gets right off to a great start with a Half Step – something played over the past several days – this one being is the cream of the crop. The Tennessee Jed peaks and peaks again, but never quite peaks as high or as often as Music Never Stopped. This version is HOT and we lost count after 3 peaks from the Boys. When it’s over you get that feeling of your team winning a Game 7 and ready to celebrate. That celebration is the next set!
Set II Opens with Samson – hot off of yesterday’s show, this one has it’s own rousing “get up and raise your hands” feeling. Scarlet>Fire, again played before and this one is somewhat interesting as Jerry forgets a chunk of lyrics, pay no mind, they played through and the end result was a Scarlet that had some very fantastic musical moments. One thing we always loved about Jerry was that when he painted himself into a corner he always broke out in a big way – this being a prime example! Give a listen to that first solo and you’ll forget those missing lyrics. The jam section leaves you at that perfect moment of “melt” and the band continues that climb through the second set and Wharf Rat brings you back down to earth.
Enough narrative and get to the music!
