TGDH: Grateful Dead Live at Stony Brook SUNY Gym 10-31-1970

Happy Halloween and Today in Grateful Dead History we bring your a treat – the Late show from Stony Brook Gym on 10-31-1970.   We get some excellent quality of a solid 1970 set and make no mistake, at this point in time this was Pig Pen’s band. We really enjoyed the play of Billy and Mickey in this set as they both sound locked in and at times it sounds like one 4-legged/4-armed monster (for Halloween)! Highlights include a rousing Hard To Handle followed by an even more exciting 19070’s Good Lovin’ with a very bluesy feel and at one point the jam just turns to jelly! While not big fans of the New Riders, the quality of the recording makes this set is a treat and we enjoyed their take on Honkey Tonk Women.
